Try Something New Revolution Update #6

Memory Maker

Hey Mates :) Sorry I'm posting this so late but I haven't really had a moment to myself all day in order to write this. Today's challenge was to document today's day and to make an effort to take pictures during the day. So today I was the total spy secretly taking pictures when no one was looking. Unfortunately, ever picture that I took had someone in it (for some reason I consistently unknowingly took pictures of strangers or acquaintance or friends) and I didn't feel right posting the pictures for the world to see with there content :(

I know, I know excuses excuses, but I do have some pics on my phone of people so you are just going to have to take my word for it.

On the bright side I do have something for you to enjoy :)

And yes, I did just show you an adorable picture of Pikachoo. Why? Well this is because I hope it's cuteness will be enough for you to forgive me for that lack of documentation that I am able to show you. Anyways, we haven't been getting a lot of comments but hey if you have time I would really like to know what your favorite Pokemon is/was or if you have ever seen Pokemon (I wasn't really that big of a fan of the TV show yet I still watched it when I was little. I was more of a Pokemon video gamer type of gal and of course I still did see the movies with my brother when I was younger)?

NIKKI

Try Something New Revolution Update #5

Master Chef

Today's challenge was to either cook a dish you have never attempted before or create your own creation. Anyways, today I decided to make chicken for lunch which is one of the only edible things in my fridge other than cheese (I need to go shopping). Anyways, so pretty much I just put some chicken in a frying pan or whatever on the stove and with some butter and oil and then just through stuff together and added spices to make a sauce to go with it. It actually didn't turn out that bad which is surprising since I AM NOT A COOK. It's not that I can't cook (because for this one class I took I had to make croissants which actually turned at really good) but, it's that I choose not to cook.

I am bussy and a lot of the time I'm just to lazy since after you cook you have to clean and after I have spent the entire day in class I really don't feel like doing that.

So today when I got home from my last exam for the time being (yay :) ) I decided why not? Today I will cook and stuff. Anyways, after I made the chicken I ate it and it was tasty and all but part of me was like I want to make my own concoction. So here it is:

Poison Ivy

Ingredients:

1 can of Diet Coke
10-15 drops of Green Dye
A squirt of hershey Chocolate Sauce

1) Put all ingredients in to cup.
2) Stir until Bubble
3) Drink

And yes I put these ingredients together since well I had no other ingredients to use. It actually wasn't that bad... Ok it was pretty bad but again I am no cook! At first it tastes like coke but then you get this weird chocolate/dye after taste and since prior to this I had ate chicken lets just say NEVER TRY THIS AT HOME. There is a reason why I may name it Poison Ivy- 1) since when you stir it the bubble become green and 2) It tastes bad and now I have a stomach ache aka It feels like I just ate poison and maybe I did who knows.

Mission Completed. And now I am going to go lie on my couch because my stomach hurts :(

TTFN,

NIKKI

(This Picture brings back memories on Little Nikki watching Hamtaro :). If you don't know what Hamtaro is then go look it up now, if you do know what Hamtaro is then all I can say if that I don't care how childish they are, I still find them adorable <3)

Try Something New Revolution Update #4/BRATZ

Be Childlike
Ok. So today's challenge is to be childlike which is actually a really big dilemma for me since I couldn't think of anything to do. I already have seen all the barbie movies, I have seen most of the new Monster High webisodes (a while ago when Katy and I were hanging out we wanted to see what Mattel had been up to over the years so we went to Mattel.com and played all the old MyScene games and barbie games that we use to love and then we discovered Monster High so we watch it sometimes at like 1 am when I stay over at her place and it is completely hilarious especially when you watch things that happen in the background), I have seen all of Kim Possible and Totally Spies and Bratz the TV show episodes and movies.  But then it hit me (not literally of course). I was listening to some of the Bratz songs on youtube while studying for my last midterm of this year (YAY :) ) and then in the side bar there was a link to the BRATZ real life movie! Now, truth be told I have seen this before but it was such along time ago so I pretty much forgot everything that happened in it, well except that I didn't like it.

But for this mission I am going 2 watch said movie and review it 4 you :)

BRATZ THE REAL LIFE MOVIE REVIEW

You know those movies that are so bad that there good (since they are so funny)? Well this movie isn't that case. Actually, this movie had some real problems. If you don't know, it's about these four girls (Yasmine played by Nathalia Ramos, Sasha played by Logan Browning, Chloe played by Skyler Shaye, and Jade played by Janel Parrish) who are best friends going to High School but when they get there they break off and go into clicks. But then one day the mean girl president played by Chelsea Kane aka Chelsea Staubs, sends her dog over to get Chloe to stop talking to a guy named Cameron which cause Chloe to drop her lunch over the Balcony hitting Jade's head and causing a food fight. After the food fight, the girls are sent to detention where they make up and become best friends again and decide to destroy the social class system by beating the mean girl president, Meredith, at the talent show.

I loved the BRATZ TV show ever since I was little and this movie is either a really poor interpretation or some parody. Now I'm not trying to be really mean or anything but this movie just made no sense.

1) They were off on the character's personalities like how they made Chloe this nice, shy soccer star when in the TV show although she is good at soccer she is really confident and wants to be an ACTRESS!

2) Dylan is the weird, funny guy friend who is again JUST A FRIEND. Yet in this movie they make the girls find Dylan attractive, have Dylan and Yasmine become love interests (when in the TV show Yasmine is with a guy named Eitan who I guess in the real world doesn't exist), and on top of all that they make Dylan Deaf. In truth, I wouldn't care if Dylan was deaf except this movie is based of a TV show and if it is based of a TV show they should at least try to be true to the characters.

3) This movie includes prejudice beliefs that Asians have to be studious. I'm not saying Asians aren't smart but I actually enjoyed how in the TV show Jade wasn't a stereotypical bookworm yet was a girl who wanted to become a fashion designer and Chloe, the drama queen, is the one who cares about grades. Yet, again this movie made Jade super smart and made her dress up like a nerd around her parents and then when she was at school she had her friends huddle around her as she changed her clothes IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARKING LOT! I'm sorry but even if this is movie land where flying monkeys and unicorns can exist, You just don't change you clothes in a crowded parking lot in the front of your school where everyone can see you. Hello, couldn't she just go to the bathroom like any normal person?!?

4) Pretty much this movie is filled with stereotypes, like how Meredith is the typical annoying mean girl. At least in the TV show the Twevils had the whole twin thing going for them along with how Cassy always had a noise job since whenever she got one something would happen to it to cause it to break.

This movie has a lot more issues than just this but in totally this movie is prejudice, cheezy and inaccurate to the actual BRATZ. Fortunately, this movie was so bad that it made me want to go back and re-watch some of the old Bratz episodes that little Nikki would have loved.

Thanks 4 taking the time 2 read my rant and if u skimmed it that that's ok too :)

All that's left to say is challenge completed :)

Nikki

Try Something New Revolution Update #3

Ah, Sweet Silence

This Challenge is to not talk for the day. I didn't find out about this challenge till a couple minutes ago since I forgot to check my email this morning. But other then a short conversation I had with some friends in the morning I have been completely silent since I was taking a test and all. But, from now on I am going 2 try not 2 talk which is really hard for me to do, So wish me luck :)

I am currently writing things done on a piece of paper and holding it up to their faces in order for them to understand what I'm saying which is causing my hands to hurt.

By the way I find this challenge not only difficult but also really shows how important talking is and how a world would be like if we lived in a silent movie. Ok, no we are not in black and white but a world without sound would be so different and is even hard to conceptionally grasp.

Anyways that was my little philosophical moment. Got to go back to the books for another excruciating night of midterm studying.

TTFN,

NIKKI :)

Try Something New Revolution Update #2

Picture Perfect

For this challenge I had to draw a picture of myself, a friend or a family member so of course I choose to do a picture of the Divas. But, be aware my drawing ability is very bad and I can't do faces so this was the best that I could do:

Sorry that this looks nothing like us and we have no faces :( Anyways, MISSION COMPLETED :)

YAY!

Midterms are still going on so gotta get back to study.

TTFN,

NIKKI

P.S. Hope the revolution is going well for you guys 2 :)

Try Something New Revolution Update #1

Hey Guys,
Heres a quick update of how the revolution has been going.

Challenges:
Kindness Ninja:
For this challenge, I cleaned the kitchen for my Mom, when she went out. She was really happy about it and it was fun to make someone's day :) Yet, the whole Ninja/Secretive part didn't really work out since no one could have possible cleaned the house when she was gone except me. But, in the spirit of being the Kindness Ninja I do have to be honest and say that I did a Ninja roll in my kitchen and cleaned to spy music/Be a man from Mulan :).

Do It Yourself: My Do It Yourself mission is to Study with out.... da...da...da... Procrastinating! (Ok I know this is really boring but It's Midterms and I really need to study so yeah :) ). But in order to make this mission a bit more fun here are some lyrics that I made about my study experience to the song Mamma Mia! From Abba:

Mamma Mia!
Here I go again!
My My, I wish I could resist you!
Mamma Mia!
My brain hurts again.
My My, Just don't want to take you!
Yes, I wanna procrastinate!
Blue cause my head aches.
Why Why do I have to take you?
Mamma Mia!
Now I really know.
My My, gotta study to let you go!

Thank You. Thank You :) I know I am so creative! (Virtually bows! Virtually Flowers fly on to the stage. One More virtual bow and then the virtual curtains close).

Thats the end of my virtual performance :)

And... Relax
I am so happy that there is a challenge to just spend 30 minutes relaxing and especially with all this studying I am doing, I could really use a break to just let my mind rest :)

Got to go back to the book... (BTW when my friend texted me today I texted back: I'm sorry. Nikki is MISSING. Last spotted: somewhere in the Library. If anyone saw a girl being swallowed by a book please call the police IMMEDIATELY. Just though I would let you know.)

Anyways
TTFN,

Nikki

P.S. Stay tune for the next update :) and feel free to leave a comment. I want to know how your guy's challenges are going 2 :)

Here's a funny Midterm Picture:

Try Something New Revolution

To whomever's out there:

As Callie just recently mentioned it is Midterms. So I am going to have to make this quick. I found out about this awhile ago yet I didn't think of writing a blog post about it until now.

Thanks to the Youtube community (especially missxrojas), I found out that there is something called the Try Something New Revolution. Now I know New Years has passed and if you are anything like me you have already failed most of your New Years Revolutions.  But this is something really cool that is going on for the entire month of January so don't worry you still have time. Each day they give you something to do to well Try Something New. It's really fun and a great idea to get the people involved in making the world a tiny bit more awesome :)

An example of a task or mission is for example yesterday the task was to include 3 unusual words into conversations. I loved this challenge and just came up with a list of unusual words that I was using throughout the day.

Some of my words include:
nelipot- Someone who walks barefoot
abacinate- to blind by putting a hot copper basin near someone's eyes
(I told my friend that my other friend wants to abacinate me.)
Basorexia- an overwhelming desire to kiss someone
(I asked someone if they suffered from basorexia)
Lalochezia- the use of foul or abusing language to relieve pain or stress
Callipygean- this word I actually learned from reading the book Anna and the French Kiss and it is still one of my favorite words. And in the spirit of Stephanie Perkins I will tell you to "Look it up lazy..." Butt (in the book this word is a** but since this is on the internet I'm just going to say this instead)!

Here is the website where I got the unusual words. There really funny and interesting so I suggest look at it :)

http://users.tinyonline.co.uk/gswithenbank/unuwords.htm

If you are interested in joining the Try Something Revolution then: Just go to the website link below and sign up. It's really easy and then they will send you and email or if you don't want you email box to be over flowing you can just have them not send you emails and instead just check the website daily.

Website: http://revolution.channel4.com/

Some Youtubers who are doing the Challenge as well are:
Italktosnakes
Leslieandtheholygrail
Missxrojas

etc.

Anyways, hopefully this comes in handy :) If not then at least enjoy the snow in you have any :)

Don't forget to try something new :)

TTFN,

Nikki

P.S. I will have my head stuck in the books for the time being but I will try my best to post a quick blog entry about what I have been doing for my Try Something New Revolution. Also, please comment if your doing the revolution too :)

Snow!

Isn't it the most wonderful thing when you wake up and the world is covered in snow? Well, I think it is! It makes the world so pure and fresh and beautiful. It's almost a little cathartic. I know some people don't like snow, but I try to enjoy all the seasons because all of them have special things about them.
This is a very short blog post, but I just wanted our readers to know that it snowed! And also, we will not be posting for a while since this weekend is now officially reserved for one thing: STUDYING (and the occasional playing in the snow)! As Katy wrote about, midterms are coming up and for us it is this week. So we won't have much time to post things for a while.
So good look everyone on midterms, if you have to take them, and have fun in the snow, if you have any!!!

Love,
Callie

How to Get Your Study On the Right Way!

Hi readers!
It's no secret that midterms are right around the corner no matter how hard we try not to think about them. Stress is an obvious first feeling, knowing that each day will bring even more work. Fear is also common. Not only from the hovering wrath of our parents waiting to pounce if we don't earn at least a B on each test (I know all we cool kids act like we don't care about grades, but deep down inside we really do), but also from the lack of socialization that we will have during this time. It's almost unbearable! Study, study, study that's all we do.... 24 hours.... 7 days a week with no contact whatsoever with the outside world. First, you begin to have regular headaches. Next, eye spasms come every three hours or so. Creepy is not an adjective anybody wants to be described as, however in a situation like this, what else is there to do but turn off the lights, go in a corner, and curl up in a ball? Actually, there are many options to make your workload seem lighter and ease some of the stress off your shoulders!
Is this you? Well not for long! Try my tips to make your midterms a less bumpy ride. Captain, I see smooth sailing ahead!........... (ignore me...)

Katy's Ultimate Tips for Success:
1. Map out when you have which test in order to study more for the ones you have first. For example, you might have math and Spanish on the first day of exams, so what do you do? Study for those a little bit more than the rest.
2. Make a study plan. What I mean by this is something very descriptive not "study for math on Monday.... Study for Spanish on Tuesday" so on and so forth. It has to be extremely specific in order for you to know that you have given yourself enough time to cover and review everything you need to before the exam day.
3. Around this time, some if not all of your teachers have given you study guides. You can mark down in your study plan when you would like to complete them, but before that just flip through them. Flipping through them will allow you to see a basic overview of everything that will be on your midterm and, hopefully, jog your memory on a few topics.
4. Making study guides yourself are always helpful as well, especially in subjects like science and history. What I do is gather up all you worksheets and type important notes form them onto a word document. Next, I will retake notes on each of the chapters my class has covered that semester so everything will be fresh in my mind again. Not only will this bring back a lot of things you had learned earlier in the year back into your mind, but it will also create a great packet for you to read over the night before going into the test.
5. Organization is key. I would recommend making packets for all your classes, stapling your study guide on top and all your notes and worksheets underneath it for that class. This will help you easily navigate through the material instead of sifting through a sea of papers for 5 hours.
6. Review all your material the night before the test (give yourself enough time so you will be able to go to bed early) this is because, it is a known fact that if you study right before you go to sleep, you will have more of a chance of remembering the information. However, this does not justify cramming at all, this is just supposed to be a quick look over your packets because, of course, you're already a master at the material!
7. And Finally, like all good teachers who pretend to care about their students say, "Go to bed early and eat a healthy breakfast!"

You're not still in the corner are you? Good! Sounds simple enough, right? It is a bit of work, but in the end you will reap the rewards. As long as you follow my tips you are sure to ace your midterms! Good luck!

Have a Divalicious day!

Katy

P.s. I would love to hear how you all prepare for midterms! If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to leave a comment.

Do Something!

Hi readers! It is important in our world to help others. But sometimes it's very hard to find out how to do that. An organization called "Do Something" works to make change in the world and influence others to help out too. I want people to know about it because I know how hard it is to find ways to help, and through this website people can begin!
"Do Something" makes it so easy to help out in the world. It gives you projects based upon the things you are interested in and want to help out in. The projects I focus on a lot and interest me include animal welfare, education, violence and bullying, and international human rights. But other topics include discrimination, disaster response and relief, health and fitness, HIV and sexuality, poverty; and war, peace, and politics. "Do Something" educates those who want to participate in their website by telling them information on the topic they are focused on. It then tells them how to take action!

But "Do Something" does even more! "Do Something" teaches you how to set up clubs and also, has a boot camp that teaches young people how to take action.

There are so many ways to take action, and I am so happy and grateful for an organization like "Do Something" that makes it much easier than I initially thought it to be for people, young and old, to make a difference. You can work on projects in your own home to help our country and help the world too! I hope you all check it out and see what you can do to help out in the things that interest you and matter to you!

Love,
Callie

Magazines Fit for Princesses and a Love of Art (fan art that is)

The Disney Princess movies are tales as old as time that show you a whole new world in which true love thrives and happily ever afters are possible. And yes, they are considered to be for little kids but for anyone out there who thinks that the Disney Princess movies are childish, I am just going to say that I don't see anything childish in believing in hope, trust and pixie dust. So where am I getting at?

DISNEY PRINCESS FAN ART!

One of the other divas showed these to me and now they are my new screen savers :)

1) Ok so this person (Petitetiaras/tumblr) made magazine covers with the disney princesses and not only are the captions hilarious but they are also just really cool.

Favorite Caption: "I won't say I'm in love! Why you should wait."
I love the song I won't say I'm in love from Hercules and I found this caption really funny and cute (even though Meg isn't really a Disney Princess, I still decided to include her).

Favorite Caption: "Party with the snuggly duckling guys" (It's just really fun to say out loud)
Yet, "Frying Pans! The hot new must-have" is a close second.

Favorite Caption: "Be a Man- How to be as swift as the corsing river" ("Let's get down to buisness to defeat, who ha, the huns...."). I love this song and the MLIA entry that said "One day in science class, all the girls starting singing "Be a Man". The next day, all of the boys decided to retaliate by singing "Oh, I feel like a woman" at the top of their lungs. While they were doing this, the Principal walked in. I love my school MLIA").
Note: Mulan never married a Prince yet she is still considered a Disney Princess.

Favorite Caption: Flipping your fins you don't get too far! legs are required..." ("Part of your World" is a song that just makes me want to sing along and I love how this caption bolds "required").
Also I love the caption "Everything's hotter under the water- Sebastian tells it like it is".

Note: Us Divas, in the spirit of Disney Princesses, decided to figure out which Disney Princess is most like us. Katy is most like Ariel (fresh out of water and ready to start a new life with her prince JK but they are really alike :) ).

Favorite Caption: "Prince Philip Exclusive! 'I liked her before I knew she was a PRINCESS!" (The bolding of the word princess just makes it sound really dramatic and since I was declared most like Princess Aurora, I can't help but like this picture <3 ).

Favorite Caption: "Prince Charming Confesses 'That's not my name!' The shocking true story" (I found this caption hilarious. By the way, does anyone know what Prince Charming's real name is because now I'm really curious?)
Also I really like the caption "60+ ways to spruce up your pumpkin".
Note: Cinderella's real name is Ella Tremaine so I found it really creative that she was on Elle magazine.

Favorite Caption: "Poison Apple- The terrifying true story of how an apple kills"
This line is truly spectacular and by the way, Callie also was declared most like Snow White :).

Favorite Caption: hands down my favorite has to be "Who are you calling Beast? Prince Adam on Manly Manners".

                                        ******************

2) Here is a fanart picture of Sailor Moon and the Disney Princesses combined. I love the poses and I find it really creative to mix these two completely different things together.
http://data.whicdn.com/images/1804816/Sailor-Disney-disney-princess-7245766-300-225_thumb.jpg

3) This is stain glass Disney Princess fan art that Callie found. She doesn't know if it is real or not so I guess it's up to you guys to judge.

http://www.neatorama.com/2011/11/14/mandie-manzanos-stained-glass-illustrations-of-disney-characters/

Although this includes more than just Disney Princesses, it's still really pretty.

Again, this Picture doesn't include only Disney Princesses, but I still love the message and pictures.

Anyways, that's all the Disney Princess fan art we have for you now. But please feel free to leave us a link in the comments of Disney Fan Art that you have done or thought was really cool. Also, if you have any movies, books, plays, pictures, fashion, music etc. that you want us to rate or talk about again just put it in the comments. We are happy to look it to any suggestions you have (even if the movie is the worst movie you have ever seen it, we will still have fun on rating it's badness :) ).

TTFN (Ta Ta For Now),

Nikki

P.S. While I'm still on the topic of Disney, here is a clip from the new short "Tangled Ever After". It's starting where Tangled left off :)
